The 3-way mixing valve mixes cooler heating system/circuit return water temperature into the hot water boiler supply to the heating loop circuit, the amount depending on the mixing blade position. The mixing valve has optimum water temperature control characteristics in any mixing blade position. Threaded NPT connections (female). The 3-way mixing valve can only be installed in the vertical position (to avoid airpockets and dirt build-up). If, however, there is any welding or soldering to be done around the mixing valve, the complete rotary insert must be removed to prevent damage to the O-ring seals. Remove the four hexagon bolts only, and the total assembly will slide out of the housing.
