It's the higher-capacity option in the REHP lineup, so if your household is smaller or your hot water demand is more moderate, the 50-gallon REHP50 may be the better fit.
How much more efficient is the REHP80 than a standard 80-gallon electric water heater?
The REHP80 carries a 4.0 Uniform Energy Factor, the highest rating in the REHP series, because it moves heat from the surrounding air into the tank instead of generating nearly all of it with resistance elements. That efficiency is also why it's NEEA Tier 4 and ENERGY STAR certified, which often qualifies it for stronger utility and state rebates than a conventional electric tank of the same size.
Where can the REHP80 be installed, and are there any space or temperature requirements?
The REHP80 is designed for indoor installation only, and since the heat pump draws heat from the surrounding air, a small or sealed mechanical room may need the optional ducting kit to bring in enough air volume and vent properly.
