Professional Inspection: Schedule a professional service before the heating season begins. This service should include checking the pressure levels, testing safety controls, and ensuring the system is functioning correctly. Doing this in the late summer, early fall is my recommendation.

If your condensate line runs to a condensate pump, test that it is working. I have done this by adding water to the reservoir of the pump until it turns on. If water fills to the top of the reservoir, it’s time to look for a new one! Consider a pump that also neutralizes condensate like the Saniflo 044 Sanicondens. The heat exchanger should be inspected regularly for scale buildup, which can significantly reduce efficiency. You can also use a descaler kit annually which will help not only with the life span of the heat exchanger, but how efficient the heater is as well. High-efficiency boilers also benefit from more frequent checks of their combustion seals and fans, as they operate under tighter tolerances. Always ensure that these checks and maintenance tasks are carried out by a qualified technician who is familiar with the specific requirements of high-efficiency boiler systems.
Maintenance During the Heating Season
Regular Monitoring: Keep an eye on the boiler's pressure gauge and temperature readings. Its important to make sure your Recirculating Pumps and zone valves are working properly. Any sudden changes could indicate a problem.

Maintain Water Level: Ensure the water level within the boiler is maintained and refill if necessary. If your auto fill valve is working, you should not need to manually fill the boiler. This safeguard ensures the boiler cannot be restarted until the water level is restored and the system is manually reset, making it a critical component for maintaining boiler safety and preventing equipment damage.
