Latest Trends in Remodeling
Power Showers
More than 80% of homeowners renovating their bathrooms upgrade the shower, with more than 50% increasing the size of the shower. Manufacturers offer a tempting array of products that can convert an ordinary space for bathing into an in-home spa, featuring steam, light and aroma therapies, high-performing environmentally efficient showerheads, Bluetooth activation and control, music, digital controls and seats for relaxing. Nearly 50% of the surveyed homeowners reported that they use the bath to relax. That’s why we have seen and expect to continue to see continued growth among homeowners opt for creating in-home spas.
Free-Standing Bathtubs
Nearly half of the homeowners undertaking a bath renovation have made the switch to free-standing bathtubs. Technologically sophisticated toilets are attracting considerable attention as well, increasing in popularity from 28% of bath renovations in 2018 to 34% in 2019 and that trend will continue. Almost all of our clients are wowed by toilets that can clean themselves and offer heated seats, self-opening and closing lids, touchless flushing, night light capabilities and bidet functionality.
In-Home Spas
Creating an in-home spa requires more than fixtures and equipment, it needs style and design. A well designed in-home spa and new bath is an organized space featuring clean lines and neutral color schemes. The Houzz study found that neutral tones help to advance the spa-like feel of a new bath, with 34% of homeowners selecting white vanities and 29% selecting wood finishes. Similarly, white countertops were most popular, selected by 46% of renovators and gray and white flooring were picked by 50% of homeowners. The most popular colors for wall coverings are also gray and white.
Neutral Colors
A white or neutral toned bath does not have to be stark or sterile; 35% of homeowners opted to complement white and neutral color motifs with colored accent walls. More than 75% of homeowners added new mirrors to their new baths and two thirds upgraded their medicine cabinets with a mirrored surface.
