TOTO C2 vs S2: What's the Difference and Is the S2 the Better Choice?

TOTO C2 vs S2: What's the Difference and Is the S2 the Better Choice?

We get customers who reach out to us with questions about the differences between Toto's S2 and C2 washlets. The S2 is brand new this summer and the C2 has been a go to entry level washlet that we love to recommend to someone who is looking for a budget bidet seat. The C2 has been a long time low-budget favorite for anyone wanting a nice wash without the premium price tag. It's simple, easy to install, and delivers some amazing features that make you wonder how you ever used a regular toilet. Plus, it has an attached remote. Which is great if you are like me and lose things all the time.

But if you’ve been searching for the C2 lately, you’ve probably noticed it’s nowhere to be found or very hard to find. That’s because TOTO has discontinued the C2 and the S2 is its upgraded replacement.

The good news? The S2 offers everything the C2 does, with a more refined design and luckily for you a similar price point. Here’s a closer look at how they compare—and why the S2 (in my opinion) is the better buy.

What Do the C2 and S2 Have in Common?

Both the C2 and S2 offer a full suite of features that make for a more comfortable, hygienic experience. If you’ve used a TOTO Washlet before, you’ll recognize these:

  • Adjustable warm water spray

  • Heated seat with temperature control

  • Built-in deodorizer

  • Warm air dryer

  • SoftClose seat and lid

  • Premist feature to help keep the bowl cleaner

  • Simple side-panel controls (no remote)

They both come in two styles. Round and elongated, so you can fit it on almost any toilet.

So What’s the Difference?

While the functionality is similar, the real difference is in the design:

  • The S2 has a sleeker, more modern profile. It’s lower in height and slimmer overall, making it a better visual match for most bathrooms.

  • The C2 was bulkier, with a more rounded, older-style shape.

  • The S2 has a convenient night light for those late-night trips.

  • While both the C2 and the S2 have heated water. The S2 has instantaneous and continuous water heating.

With a similar price point and added features for convenience and ease of use, the S2 is a great starter choice over the C2.

Why Did TOTO Discontinue the C2?

While we can’t speak for TOTO, what we do know is that the S2 keeps everything that made the C2 a popular choice. Then steps it up with a more modern design that matches the rest of TOTO’s current Washlet lineup. On top of that, it adds convenient features for an even better cleaning experience. Sounds like a win-win to us.

Is the S2 the Better Choice?

If you’re looking for a dependable, easy-to-use bidet seat with all the essential features, the S2 is absolutely the way to go. It’s everything the C2 wasjust better. Since the C2 is no longer in production, the S2 has stepped in as the go-to entry-level Washlet, and it holds that spot well.
